What this blog is about
Snathanna is Irish and means threads. And that is what this blog is about. The joy and art of making threads and all the fun ways of turning them into something beautiful, or practical, or both.
My passion for all things fibre goes back about twenty years when I learned weaving in a school project. Lucky enough to find an affordable loom, I played around with different projects, but never went beyond the basics I had learned.
After lying dormant for some time during my university years, the passion for this fascinating craft was rekindled a couple of years ago, and started to grown into something more. No longer satisfied with the limitations of the basics I had worked with before, I started to read books on weaving, and branched out into other relates areas like spinning and plant dyeing.
The journey from there has been one of constant discovery, as I learn something more with every new project. With this blog I would like to take you along only this journey of discovery, sharing my experiences, hoping to inspire others. I am sure that many exciting adventures in fibre craft lie ahead.
To accommodate the various friends I have made across the world over the years, as well as fellow fibre enthusiast closer to home, I’ll be publishing this blog in both German and English. Translations might not always be word for but, but rather follow the spirit of what I would like to share.
